Four weeks ago I discussed a couple of potential "The-End-Is-Near" wide receivers: Cooper Kupp and Tyreek Hill. Kupp was elite as recently as 2022, and Hill as recently as 2023. The 32-year-old Kupp still hasn't broken through, but is probably a touchdown away from re-entering streaming conversations. Hill will turn 32 before he next takes the field; his days as a weekly fantasy starter might be over.
After today, most players will be more than one-third through the season. Managers will (deservedly) be less patient with underperformers, especially with bye weeks impacting roster flexibility. For example, rookies Matthew Golden (WR76 in points per game) and Travis Hunter (WR74) were both top-40 wideouts this summer. Green Bay's injuries give Golden an opening to seize fantasy relevance, and Hunter has the talent to turn things around even if he's firmly behind Brian Thomas Jr.
Thomas (WR47) probably is still a must-start in most leagues. But another disappointing outing -- combined with another win for the 4-1 Jaguars -- would be a double-hit to managers who want Jacksonville to shake things up, not continue on their offensively balanced glide path.
Ladd McConkey was way overvalued this summer (WR11 ADP), and now he's undervalued (WR46). The same goes for DJ Moore (WR45). They're both contending with crowded receiving corps. They're also seemingly too good not to finish this year in the top 50.
Whether you have any of these players or not, a lot's at stake as we dive into the middle of the fantasy regular season. Good luck today.
