For some of you, everything comes down to what your players do today. Maybe you're going-big-or-going-home. Maybe you're playing it safer than usual. The only perfect approach is learned in hindsight. So make your best guess and hope it works out. Or . . . ask me, and I'll accept the blame if you fall short. (!)
Keep an eye on Kyren Williams and Isaac Guerendo. Both are also playing on Thursday. Maybe I should be concerned about Guerendo, but I'm not. The rookie has looked fantastic and faces minimal backfield competition. The one yellow flag is that he had 14+ carries only twice in college, and one of those was in his final contest. Still, the 49ers can't afford to hold him back in either must-win game.
Williams is more concerning. I'm starting him today, but more warily than usual. He's not *owed* a bell cow role heading into 2025, and he's actually only three months older than rookie handcuff Blake Corum, who appears to be here to stay. While it's too early to suggest anything close to a December timeshare, I'm a little anxious about Corum getting double-digit touches today and/or Thursday.
