Week 1 often jars managers into a state of confusion. Week 2 often clears up the confusion . . . or deepens it.
Reacting and adjusting quickly to the shake-up of norms is one of the keys to winning. Is Baker Mayfield primed for a career-best numbers? Will Patrick Mahomes somehow finish outside the top 10? Is Jordan Mason for real? Is Derrick Henry entirely TD-dependent? Could Rashid Shaheed challenge Chris Olave as New Orleans' best fantasy WR? Probably not. But if he outperforms Olave again today, the question will be on a lot more people's minds.
I've found that many Week 1 outliers turn out to be just that. Most surprise breakouts fade to the background, or something close to it. Most inexplicable Week 1 busts find their footing. A few years ago, Allen Robinson was a notable exception -- a preseason can't-miss fantasy wideout who, because of a poor QB situation and injuries and a seemingly general decline, never got on track. Some managers dropped him after a few weeks, and the wave grew larger as the season wore on, when it became clearer that he'd never rebound.
So let's see what happens -- which player values are solidified and which remain in flux. And as always, if you have sit/start questions, I'm here to give my two cents.
Good luck today.
