Major breakouts, slumps, injuries, and depth chart shifts. Sunday featured just about everything. As always, let's walk through the biggest fantasy storyline for each team:
Falcons -- How did I miss so badly on Kyle Pitts? It will haunt me the rest of this season.
Saints -- Saturday's column focused on Alvin Kamara absurd touch pace. Now it's even higher, thanks to another touches. He's also on pace for 340 carries; his career high is 240. Sometimes we witness greatness and expect it to continue. I remain firmly in the sell-high camp.
Bears -- Saturday's column: "If I had to bet on someone in this game, it'd be D.J. Moore." Moore barely broke through thanks to a touchdown. Instead, D'Andre Swift finally got going. Too soon to know if Swift is "back."
Rams -- Saturday: "Can Tutu Atwell once again lead his team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards?" Jordan Whittington claimed those marks, but Atwell tied him for the team lead with 12.2 fantasy points.
Packers -- Saturday: "Beyond Jayden Reed, it remains unclear who will be a weekly primary target." After Christian Watson exited with yet another injury (brutal career so far), Dontayvion Wicks earned 12 targets, capitalizing with a 5-78-2 receiving line. If Watson misses time, Wicks should be one of this week's top WR waiver adds. He's a proven playmaker who simply needs a thinned receiving corps to break through.
Vikings -- Saturday: "Can Sam Darnold continue to crush it?" Yes. A healthy Jordan Addison elevates Darnold that much more. And T.J. Hockenson's return in the coming weeks will elevate him even further.
Colts -- Anthony Richardson might have helped lead Indy to a win. But his injury opened the door to more Joe Flacco heroics, and Michael Pittman was a big reason why. Those rostering Pittman need to hope Flacco somehow gets more spot starts, because it remains to be seen whether Richardson can adequately feed him. Also, keep a close eye on Jonathan Taylor's early-week prognosis after injurying his ankle.
Steelers -- Saturday: "Once again, it's all about Justin Fields and whether he can continue holding off Russell Wilson whenever Wilson is healthy enough to return." Despite the loss, Fields had his best start of the year, though Indy has one of the league's worst defenses. Still he's proving to be a big preseason bargain.
Jets -- Saturday: "How much work will Braelon Allen get?" More than expected. If you were as high on him as I was this summer, you're in a great shape. But if you have only Breece Hall, you'll need to make a tough decision heading into Week 5: give up a decent amount for Allen, or sell Hall a little too low.
Broncos -- Saturday: "Is Courtland Sutton the only Bronco who can be semi-trusted?" In one of the strangest receiving lines in decades, Sutton had 60 yards and a score. The other WRs combined for only one catch for minus-2 yards. No player (besides Sutton) had more than three receiving yards.
Buccaneers -- Saturday: "For the fourth straight week, Rachaad White vs. Bucky Irving." They went toe-to-toe, which helps White more than Irving. And yet, with Irving playing so well, White remains a weekly demotion risk.
Eagles -- Saturday: "Will Dallas Goedert remain an elite TE in a depleted receiving corps?" Without a doubt. And once again, the "well, someone has to catch it" philosophy didn't work out Jahan Dotson, who continues to be outplayed by elevated third-stringers.
Panthers -- Saturday: "As RB Jonathon Brooks nears his return to the field, can Chuba Hubbard hold off the rookie?" Hubbard keeps delivering, and it helps that he's running in a revitalized offense with Andy Dalton under center. Rookie WR Xavier Legette also proved his worth. He was one of my favorite pick-ups last week. If he's still on waivers in your league, it won't be for long.
Bengals -- Tee Higgins got going, and Chase Brown outplayed Zack Moss on the ground (though Moss took care of business through the air). There's a little too much chaos in this offense, as it's hard to know which among Higgins, Brown, and Moss are startable.
Texans -- Saturday: "As always, when will Houston upgrade at running back? Or am I mis-reading the talent level of everyone not named Joe Mixon?" Cam Akers was adequate. J.J. Taylor mixed in. Dare Ogunbowale earned passing-down work. No one can be trusted . . . except a healthy Mixon.
Jaguars -- Gabe Davis's yardage has gone from 62 in Week 1 to 43, then 18, and now minus-2. This is good news for those rostering Brian Thomas Jr. and especially Christian Kirk.
Cardinals -- James Conner has exceeded my expectations. However, he's averaging only 1.75 targets per game -- his lowest tally since his rookie 2017 campaign. Be mindful that he's both exceptional and slightly exposed without the security of his normal healthy dose of targets.
Commanders -- Saturday: "Can we trust Terry McLaurin yet?" Yes. He led Washington with 10 targets (a season high) and appears to be jelling with Jayden Daniels.
49ers -- Saturday: "Can Brandon Aiyuk find his footing?" Not yet. It remains a troubling situation for the recently paid star, especially as his receiving corps returns to health.
Patriots -- Saturday: "For reasons shared a week or two ago, I don’t trust Rhamondre Stevenson's durability." We've reached a pivotal moment in Stevenson's season. He's coughed up the ball in four straight contests, losing two of them. Managers who drafted have an even narrower window to trade him.
Raiders -- As always, Zamir White is a huge topic. Despite netting 17 carries, he produced only three fantasy points while committing his second turnover of the year. If time isn't running out, I'm not sure what Vegas is waiting for.
Browns -- Saturday: "Is Amari Cooper the only Cleveland receiver we can trust in fantasy?" It was Jerry Jeudy's turn, just as it was in Week 2.
Chargers -- Saturday: "How long can J.K. Dobbins hold up? So far, so good, though KC's defense kept him in check. Still, he'll remain a key part of this offense as long as he's healthy.
Chiefs -- Saturday: "With Kareem Hunt now on the active roster, this backfield could get even messier." Hunt shocked me, because I never expected him to dominate. Carson Steele now looks like an every-league drop. And of course, possibly the day's biggest story: Rashee Rice's potentially significant injury. If that's the case, I'd be surprised if the Chiefs don't acquire a complement to Xavier Worthy -- someone like (if the salary caps works out) Courtland Sutton or DeAndre Hopkins.
Ravens -- Saturday: "Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. The struggle (possibly) continues." When Justice Hill racks up half of Baltimore's receiving yards, the problem is clear: No receiver can be trusted. It's the reality of a run-friendly team with the most good/great pass-catchers in Lamar Jackson's career.
Bills -- Saturday: "Can Keon Coleman challenge Khalil Shakir atop the WR depth chart?" It was close. Another big test will be next weekend when they travel to Houston.
