Welcome Back

And we're back. Exactly one month 'til the first preseason game, and 66 days 'til the start of the regular season.

Most of you have been part of this community for years--some going back to when it all began 10 seasons ago. I know I'm biased, but you all are the most knowledgeable, courteous, and engaging community in the fantasy football universe. Because if you were jerks, I would have shut down this site a long time ago. (!)

Seriously, you all keep this engine running. I wake up every morning with two burning questions: Is my family still healthy and happy, and what really tough sit/start question is going to rack my brain for hours?

Looking forward to hearing your questions, opinions, and push-back these next six months. If you're new to this page, push-back is key. I'm not one of those "Here's the truth" people. If you know something I don't, share it. If you're not sold on my analysis, explain how/why we should improve it.

Also for newer folks, this is a no-nonsense, no-frills page. You won't find flashy images or many exclamation points (the one above is an outlier). I write one column per day, usually ranging from about 700 to 1,000 words, published at 6:00am Eastern. Monday morning columns run longer, as I try to dissect the biggest fantasy impact for each Sunday team to help assess upcoming waiver decisions.

Tomorrow I'll kick off the usual "32 teams in 32 days" content, running down initial fantasy takes on roughly 300 notable, not-yet-notable, and probably-never-notable-but-you-never-know-because-Isiah-Pacheco-etc players. To understand the fantasy draft universe, we first have to understand the entire known universe, figure out who we can largely ignore for now, determine who might be a high-upside midseason waiver add, and assess how the guys everyone tells us are "can't-miss" players could, in fact, miss.

As always, my analysis is based not merely on "following the news." That's the easy part. The harder part is developing and maintaining data models and other documents that help us understand which veteran running back is riskier than normal, which rookie WR is a strong breakout candidate, and why Jordan Love is one of the best value picks in two-QB leagues.

OK, I've said too much. We'll get to Love and everyone else in the next 32 days. After that, we'll focus on the impacts of potential depth chart shifts, with an eye toward high-ceiling players who might become league winners. Because would you rather read about a high-flying rookie RB handcuff, or Russell Gage?

Great to be back, great to have *you* back, and great to get the chance to connect with you all these next six months.
