If any of you watched the 1993 Bills-Oilers playoff game, I'd love to hear it. I was home from college and rooting hard for Warren Moon. No exaggeration: that 32-point comeback stayed with me for years. Frank Reich staarting in place of the legendary Jim Kelly, leading Buffalo to the greatest comeback in NFL history. He already had the record for biggest college football comeback. What are the odds that the same QB would achieve both miracles?
And what are the odds that the record was broken against the team Reich coached until only a few weeks ago, when he was fired and replaced with someone who'd never coached in college or the pros? Would this have happened under Reich's watch?
What Minnesota did yesterday: nothing short of incredible. And what Indy did to get to 33-0 without Jonathan Taylor: also incredible. I wrote that it might end up being Matt Ryan's final NFL game, and it just might be. He was awful. The Colts have once again squandered a season by signing the wrong, overrated quarterback. Another reminder for fantasy managers: if the QB isn't good, it matters not only for the QB, but for every fantasy player in that offense.
For today's games, don't count out Zach Wilson. In his last five starts he faced the Bills, Patriots, and three of the seven best pass defenses (based on passing yards given up). He didn't have much of a chance. The Lions have one of the worst pass D's. I'm all in on Garrett Wilson and partially in (11+ points) on Elijah Moore. And Zach should crack 15+ in a statement game.
I'm also big on the Chargers soundly beating the Titans. Took plenty of flack for poo-poo'ing Tennessee this summer. They started 7-3. Now they're 7-6 and 28th in the league in scoring. They'll face Dallas and the Jags (in Jacksonville) in Weeks 17 and 18. If they lose today, they could realistically finish 8-9. I wrote an AFC South predictions article for PFN in August, stating that Tennessee would get eight or nine wins. Also wrote: "If Indianapolis had a sure-fire bottom-10 QB, the Jaguars might be a trendy pick to finish No. 2 in the AFC South and even challenge for No. 1 if Tennessee’s passing attack is as abysmal as I fear it will be."
Admittedly, I thought Ryan would be better than bottom-10. Instead, he's bottom-3. And the Jaguars can still win the division if they win three of their final four contests.
Fascinating games and plenty of fantasy question marks. A lot of you have a lot riding on what happens. Fire way with questions, and I'll do my best to give my two cents. And good luck.
