Some days are for winners. Others are for non-winners. And then there's a grey line for those of us forced to start Joe Flacco. Some of you know what I'm talking about. And we're not even into bye weeks. It's a wild, wonderful September.
So let's not pretend we're alone in our misery, regret, or misigret (a word I made up that combines "misery" and . . . OK, you get it). We're all in this together, except if we're competing against each other, in which case I hope Josh Allen throws five picks.
No, no, that's now how I want to be. Magnanimity. Respect. We're all doing the best we can with the team we've assembled. The rest is up to fate. And frankly, the only thing better than winning with Justin Herbert is winning with Joe Flacco. Because we know how ticked off our opponents will be if we beat them with Flacco.
Ugh, no. Magnanimity. Respect. Keep it positive. Allen deserves better. In fact, every player deserves to score today. Players like Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, Tyler Conklin, Braxton Berrios, . . .
OK, you know where my head is at. Just know if you're feeling a little stressed or disappointed with your team, you're not alone. You can do this. *We* can do this. Breathe, set your lineup, refresh your page to confirm your lineup is actually set (and that the Internet didn't go out at the worst time), and then let the fantasy gods take over.
As always, if you have sit/start questions or any other questions, ask below. I'll do my best to give my two cents, with degrees of confidence for tougher questions (often there are no obvious answers, as we all know). And if any of you have strong opinions, of course please share them
And here's my 50/50 DFS Lineup of the Week for Sunday 1:00pm ("early") games. I spent a while going back and forth on several players. We'll see how it all pans out.
QB Joe Burrow ($7,500) -- Nowhere to go but up, unless the Bengals are somehow as bad as we've seen these first two games. Have to believe they'll throw everything at this game.
RB Dalvin Cook ($8,300) -- Quiet start to the season. Still great. Still critically important to this offense. Assuming Minnesota scores 40+ (my prediction), Cook's a good best for 20+ DFS points.
RB Nyheim Hines ($5,100) -- Recommended him last week for $5,500. Happy to do it again for $400 less. I believe Indy will try some different things today in a must-win game against a tough-to-beat opponent. Don't be surprised if Hines gets 6-7 receptions.
WR Michael Pittman ($7,400) -- The Colts have the most top-heavy WR corps in the league, and it's not even close. Pittman or bust.
WR Davante Adams ($8,700) -- I tried to figure out how to spend $800 more on Justin Jefferson, but the lineup didn't work for me, and I'll share more below. For now, it seems clear that Derek Carr needs to focus heavily on Adams--something he couldn't/didn't do last week.
WR Ja'Marr Chase ($8,500) -- This seems like a 150-yard day for Chase after his quiet Week 2.
TE Hayden Hurst ($5,100) -- If Hurst sits, start Irv Smith for $5,000. In fact, Smith might be a better play. Do two lineups and start one in one of 'em and the other in the other. Hurst's volume and favorable matchup are appealing.
FLEX Adam Thielen ($6,000) -- Highly contrarian when someone like DeVonta Smith is sitting out there at the same price. Or we could go Mack Hollins for cheaper and swap out Adams for Jefferson. But I think Thielen will get going today.
D/ST Patriots ($3,300) -- There are no reliable D/STs in the early games, and that includes the injury-ravaged Bills against a tough Dolphins offense. While the Ravens might steamroll New England, I like that this is at home, and that the Patriots' backfield should eat up a lot of clock. I also like the uncertainty of J.K. Dobbins (possibly) playing rusty in his first game.
Good luck today.
