For many of you, today's the day. The adreneline and the stress of final lineup decisions. Don't overthink it, don't underthink it, and above all else, don't middle-think it. I can't tell you how much to think it. Just make sure you're thinking a perfect amount.
My thinking has been imperfect. Thank you Rick Esterly for your Courtland Sutton / Jaylen Guyton advice. But I remain paralyzed by indecision. Surely Sutton will bounce back at some point. And I can see Guyton finishing with 3-30. Then again, we saw what happened with K.J. Osborn on Thursday: 4.1 fantasy points with 11 minutes left in the game. Then one play turned him into a WR2. I can happen to Sutton, and it can happen to Guyton.
So yeah, as we know all too well, some start/sit questions have no obvious answers. We can walk through likely game scripts and still not account for a late 62-yard TD pass that makes backers look brilliant and doubters look dimwitted.
I ran through thoughts on every Sunday game yesterday. For today, keep Cam Newton in mind at QB. So much upside if the Panthers trust him enough to figure things out. At running back, can Zeke Elliott and Saquon Barkley--normally elite options when healthy--give managers confidence heading into the fantasy playoffs? At WR, Julio Jones will either bust or crush it; I don't see a middle ground. Remember, he was on a 16-game pace last year for nearly 1,400 receiving yards. Post-prime? Maybe. But let's see what he can do without Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown on the field. And at TE, can Austin Hooper finally dominate in a Browns uniform?
There are a hundred or more big question marks today. No reliable answers. We're all human. Give it your best shot, and no regrets.
