How's everyone doing today? To those who've given feedback on my PFN podcast with Tommy Garrett, thanks for listening. We're trying to provide value, not fluff. We're trying to look ahead, and not just react to someone's most recent stats. Keep me posted on what we're doing right and what we can do better.
The same goes for the Sunday morning Twitter Spaces pep talk; every Sunday from 11:00am to 11:15am Eastern, Tommy and I offer final start/sit lineup thoughts. If it sounds generic, we're not doing our job.
Speaking of not doing my job, DFS 50/50 has been brutal this year. Maybe I can blame it on setting lineups the night before, so they post at 6:00am Sunday . . . so I'm not capitalizing on final injury reports later Sunday morning. But previous years' lineups faced the same obstacles, and most still hit. So for now, ignore my lineups, but I'll keep posting them and tracking their accuracy. As always, these are for 1:00pm games, FanDuel scoring.
QB Josh Allen ($8,800) -- The most expensive option. Also the safest. Also the highest upside. I'm not overthinking this. Allen needs to be in DFS lineups.
RB Devin Singletary ($5,500) -- If you need to conserve your budget, consider Singletary in your no. 2 RB slot. He’s the 36th most expensive Sunday RB and is facing a Dolphin defense that is giving up buckets of touchdowns. Buffalo should roll over them. Backfield teammate Zack Moss is $600 more expensive. Why? Because Moss has four touchdowns versus only one for Singletary. But looking beyond fantasy points, Singletary is averaging 1.3 more yards per carry, and he’s earned 10+ touches in five of six games. The fact is, Singletary has looked like the better back most of the season, and today he should comfortably outperform expectations.
RB Jonathan Taylor ($8,500) -- Nothing I write here can overstate how impressive Taylor has been. He's significantly cheaper than Derrick Henry, but with the same ceiling.
WR Ja'Marr Chase ($8,200) -- Why not? I mean, he could regress. But facing the Jets, he needs to be in DFS lineups.
WR Tee Higgins ($6,300) -- A hedge in case Chase falters. Also hard to ignore Higgins' 15 targets last week. There's room to pop today.
WR A.J. Brown ($7,600) -- My opponent last week started him, and I regretted every moment of it. Brown is back on track.
TE Pat Freiermuth ($4,900) -- With Eric Ebron injured, I’m betting on Freiermuth to assert himself as the true no. 1 tight end in Pittsburgh. A second-round pick in the 2021 draft, Freiermuth is a legitimate franchise-caliber TE with a bright NFL future. He’s already caught 90% of his targets (which is almost unheard of, even for a tight end) and should be viewed as a TD-dependent TE1/2, but with top-6 upside given his abilities and Ben Roethlisberger’s needs.
FLEX Zack Moss ($6,100) -- Is it insane to start the Bills' QB *and* backfield in a DFS 50/50? If I'm wrong about today, sure. If I'm right, not so much. A few weeks ago against Washington, Moss and Singletary and Allen combined for 57 DFS fantasy points. Miami's defense is awful. The Bills easily could crack 40 points. If these three guys combine for even 50 fantasy points, collectively they're exceeding price-based expectations.
D/ST Browns ($4,000) I'm not a fan of QB passer ratings, but Geno Smith's is higher than Ben Roethlisberger's. I'm comfortable rolling with Cleveland's D in a must-win home game against a hated rival.
Good luck today.
