OK, let's dive into what will be quite a day in the NFL. First, one of my favorite recent articles to point your way. One concerns the ascending Javonte Williams. I've been pushing him since the summer and have tried many times (unsuccessfully) to trade for him in the Premier Fantasy Football League. My Pro Football Network colleague, Jon Helmcamp, explains why time is running out to acquire Williams: www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-fantasy-football-trade-analyzer-2021-nflwk-6/. He has blow-up potential today with Melvin Gordon nursing hip and leg injuries. Williams is the real deal.
Now then, I came up a little short in last week's DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week. Being 2-for-5 on the season stinks. Here's hoping better days are ahead. As always, FanDuel pricing, and 1:00pm Eastern games:
QB Patrick Mahomes ($9,000) -- You will be able to identify a theme with these picks. The Chiefs have lost three of four games, and their two wins weren't decided until the fourth quarter. This team is reeling, and I like Mahomes & company righting the ship against an underperforming Washington defense. Mahomes has a great shot at 400/4, and that's what you want in DFS--even at this steep price.
RB Antonio Gibson ($6,700) -- A slight hedge in case the KC-Washington game is closer than expected. But Gibson's usage is pretty secure. Yes, he's nicked up, but he has been for weeks. And Kansas City's defense is one of the league's softest.
RB Jonathan Taylor ($7,500) -- While I hate chasing points, his matchup against Houston is too favorable to pass up.
WR Keenan Allen ($7,100) -- Allen has been quiet. Too quiet. With Mike Williams hobbled and Baltimore's defense unable to slow passing attacks, Allen could be a top-5 option this week. I love him at his WR2 price tag.
WR Mecole Hardman ($5,500) -- 12 targets last week. Maybe he'll get only six today. But given how many points I think the Chiefs will put up, Hardman has a decent shot at 50+ yards and a score.
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown ($5,200) -- A longtime favorite of my fantasy colleague Tommy Garrett, St. Brown is now Detroit's de facto #1 wideout. If you want a cheap 10+ points, here's where you can find them.
TE Travis Kelce ($8,500) -- Yes, I'm all in on K.C. this weekend, for good reason.
FLEX Marquise Brown ($7,000) -- Exit Sammy Watkins, enter Rashod Bateman. And Brown remains a high-upside receiver.
DST Bears ($3,500) -- Not ideal, but it fits my budget. Maybe they'll get a cheap defensive score off an Aaron Jones fumble at the 20.
Good luck today.
