Latest Fantasy News

Hello Saturday evening crowd. Nothing like some fantasy content before you go clubbing and/or order takeout and/or watch "Octonauts" with your toddler.

What is happening? George Kittle is happening. Out at least three games. Backup TE Ross Dwelley was roughly a 5-point fantasy option last season when starting. But Trey Lance arguably gives this passing offense a boost. So I'm tagging Dwelley as a 6-8 point option, and if you get lucky with a TD (10% chance? 20%?), you're set. So if you're desperate and couldn't snag Cameron Brate, Dwelley is a top-20 TE with top 12-14 upside.

Wha does this mean for San Francisco's other key players? As I wrote yesterday in PFN (https://www.profootballnetwork.com/fantasy-football-qb-te-injury-report-mayfield-kittle-hockenson-2021-nflwk-5/), Brandon Aiyuk should get a boost. In fact, I would suggest buying low on Aiyuk before Sunday. He, Allen Robinson, and some other high-upside receivers have struggled big-time so far. But it doesn't take a fantasy savant to recognize the gap between what they've done in four games, and what they've demonstrated in the past. Aiyuk is a former first-rounder. His target share should improve. It shouldn't take too much to pry him for an eager manager.

Speaking of Allen Robinson, Packer CB Jaire Alexander has been shelved for at least three games. He was likely to shadow either Tee Higgins or Ja'Marr Chase Week 6 and Robinson Week 7. Terry McLaurin is on deck Week 8. He's almost undoubtedly a top-2 lock-down corner. His presence has turned WR1s into WR4s. So it's a pretty big deal for some of you.

And carrying over the biggest news from Thursday, it's now possible Russell Wilson could miss as many as eight weeks. Some point to him being a "quick healer." We'll see. He entered Week 5 as the #9 fantasy QB, about eight points behind #5 and about eight points ahead of #13. If you're holding onto him, understand that Week 14 (typically the first round of the playoffs) the Seahawks will play the Rams in L.A. The following two games are home tilts against the Bears and Lions: two beatable pass defenses. But if you hang onto Wilson, you'll probably need to look elsewhere Week 14.
