Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay

Quick post today, because I'm starting this after midnight, and I have three little kids, and I'm exhausted.

What do you make of Melvin Gordon? His RB-19 ADP ticks me off. I want him to be top-14 so I can call him a bust. 19 seems safe if he's a 225+ touch 1A back, which seems likely barring an injury.

But what if the 27-year-old Gordon--who has only one 4.0+ YPC campaign in five NFL seasons--continues to have a sub-par ground game? Phillip Lindsay has been terrific in his first two seasons and has proven he can handle 250+ touches.

I still don't understand why John Elway gave Gordon $13.5 million guaranteed, unless he firmly believes Gordon is the superior back. Maybe he is. But right now I think Lindsay has a decent shot at outplaying Gordon in September and earning no worse than a split after that. His RB-37 ADP offers buy potential, assuming Royce Freeman is officially out of the picture.

For my money, Gordon's ceiling is around RB-15, and his floor is roughly RB-30. At his RB-19 price, I want at minimum a reliable 1A. Gordon just doesn't seem reliable enough with Lindsay sharing the field.

Looking forward to hearing your perspectives.
