With the season winding down, a few quick notes. There will be 11 more daily columns this season, wrapping up on Monday, January 1. Then the site will go into hibernation until shortly after the NBA Finals, sometime in mid- to late-June.
At/near the end of every season, some of you kindly send donations. The site is free and will continue to be free. Donors receive nothing extra--just my sincere gratitude, and the gratitude of the FF4W commenters (who get a 25% cut of all donations). If you want to contribute, terrific. If you don't, terrific. We love this community and are glad you're here.
About 30 of you have expressed interest in joining the FF4W Premier Fantasy Football League next season, and a few others have tentative interest. So we'll probably have at least 120 teams competing in 2020. If you want to be a part of it, or if you have questions, message me anytime. Around next May I'll begin setting up the divisions and notifying all the participants.

Three of last week's QB1s started the year as backups. If you count Jacoby Brissett (a backup until Andrew Luck's unexpected retirement during the preseason), three of Week 14's top 9 QBs were backups. It's seemed like an odd season for fantasy quarterbacks. Among the consensus top-10 preseason QBs, only Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, and Drew Brees have come close to meeting expectations. #1 Lamar Jackson was a consensus QB-14. The top 4-6 QBs (Dak Prescott, Jameis Winston, and Josh Allen), were #'s 17, 15, and 21.
With few exceptions, if you snagged a top-12 QB on draft day, he didn't meet expectations. Injuries to some notable QBs played a role. But there's more to it. In any given week, any of 20+ QBs could finish in the top 5. In fact, 12 QBs scored in the top 5 at least once the past three weeks, and 17 QBs have been top-5 producers in the past five weeks.
While it's impossible to gauge what will happen next year, it's looking like Jackson, Mahomes, and Watson will be drafted in the top 3. Beyond them, possibly a dozen or more QBs have a good shot at rounding out the top 5--a great reason to sit tight on non-elite quarterbacks and find value in the late rounds.
