Week 8 DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week

Matt Ryan's out. Drew Brees is in. Alvin Kamara, Christian Kirk, and Tyrell Williams are questionable. Keenan Allen and David Johnson could be limited, if they play at all. The trade deadline is Tuesday, adding mystery to the unavailability of guys like O.J. Howard and Delanie Walker.

Welcome to the eighth Sunday of the 2019 season. And welcome to another DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week. Last week Matt Ryan did me in with 2.6 fantasy points, which my research shows was his second worst performance in 181 career starts. His worst? A 0-TD, 5-INT showing in November 2012--a game the Falcons actually somehow won. My DFS lineups now drop to 3-3-1 on the season, as the Week 5 lineup I initially accepted as a loss has been changed to a tie--the result of a majority of you sharing that you actually won with this lineup.

Without knowing how all the game-time decisions will pan out, here's a lineup that aims to maximize upside while keeping downside as high as possible. All pricing is once again based on FanDuel. If you use another service and can't make the numbers work, try downgrading one of the RBs to Le'Veon Bell, or someone a little cheaper if needed.

QB Deshaun Watson ($8,400) -- This week's second-most expensive DFS quarterback is arguably a bargain, facing an Oakland defense that just yielded six touchdown passes to Aaron Rodgers. A 300-3-0 line is very realistic today.

RB Chris Carson ($8,000) -- When I started writing this column last night, my RBs were Saquon Barkley and Ty Johnson. But I'm concerned the Giants will be playing from behind most of the game, while Johnson is an unproven sixth-round rookie who's heavy on hype and light on track record. What if he stumbles early and J.D. McKissic takes over? Carson is seemingly very safe against a reeling Falcons squad.

RB Leonard Fournette ($7,700) -- Incredible volume and production, and a Jets opponent that hasn't been able to stop the run.

WR DeAndre Hopkins ($8,200) -- You've seen him on this list many times. Love stacking him with Watson this week.

WR Kenny Stills ($5,700) -- Because DFS 50/50's are made for hedging.

WR Kenny Golladay ($6,700) -- Possibly the most volatile top-20 WR this season. I cannot conceive of Golladay being an afterthought in back-to-back matchups.

WR Jordan Akins ($4,300) -- The pricing works. Wanted to spend $500-$1,000 more on a more reliable TE2 with upside, but couldn't justify cutting corners elsewhere.

FLEX John Brown ($5,900) -- Not a flashy pick. But facing the Eagles' anemic secondary in a game Buffalo will need to win through the air, Brown is a strong bet for double-digit production.

DST Patriots ($5,000) -- Tied with the Rams for the most expensive Week 8 DST. There's no rational reason to avoid New England.

Good luck today.
