If you're 2-0, you're probably feeling pretty good this morning. Unless you're me: I'm 2-0 and facing my greatest fantasy nemesis, FF4W's Aaron Weaver. Aaron is a master of psychological fantasy warfare. I'm made to feel like I've already lost. But I have a trick up my sleeve: his Keenan Allen is about to defect to my team. Or come down with the flu.
So Aaron, better swap him out before kickoff so he doesn't give you a big fat zero. You're welcome.
Now to the DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week. After last week's letdown I'm 1-1 on the year. As always, all questionable players are off the table, and I don't have the benefit of any Sunday morning intel, since these columns are posted at 6:00am Eastern.
But no excuses: I've crafted this FanDuel lineup with an eye toward uber-upside. Let's see what happens. And as you know, if you use DraftKings are something else, it's often easy to swap out one player to make the numbers work.
QB Dak Prescott ($8,400) -- When it's too obvious, it worries me. That's true for fantasy, and it's true for life. Yet I can't in good conscience pass on Dak, who's at home against the psychologically broken Dolphins. Dak could throw for five scores as easily as he could throw for one (and let his backfield lead the way). But I'll be on a blowout, and I'll bet on Dak playing a big role.
RB Ezekiel Elliott ($8,800) -- But just in case, let's also go with Zeke. Between him and Dak, 4+ TDs are very realistic.
RB Dalvin Cook ($8,300) -- I could save a little cash and go with Austin Ekeler, or save a lot and get cute with Tony Pollard. But Cook is a very safe play in a beautiful home matchup against Oakland.
WR Mike Evans ($7,100) -- Probably the cheapest DFS Mike Evans in four years. Slowed by illness and perhaps a little game-planning, Tampa Bay's #1 receiver has taken a backseat to Chris Godwin. Today will be different. Evans will net an 8-110-1 line, restoring balance to the fantasy universe. (And side note: buy low on O.J. Howard this morning.)
WR John Brown ($5,900) -- Facing Cincinnati, Brown seems more than reasonable at this price. Nothing flashy here; simply hoping to pick up 10+ points with decent TD potential.
WR Nelson Agholor ($4,800) -- The folks who set weekly prices for FanDuel, DraftKings, etc. are human. They sometimes make mistakes. Agholor's dirt-cheap fee is a flat-out oversight. Writing this Saturday night, Alshon Jeffery is on the wrong side of questions, and DJax is out. Agholor earned 11 targets last week and once again has a favorable matchup.
TE Jason Witten ($5,000) -- Can he score again? He's got as good a shot as any TE. And love the price.
FLEX Calvin Ridley ($6,500) -- Solid value. Matt Ryan will throw for 3+ scores. I like those odds.
DST Patriots ($5,000) -- New England or Dallas? That's my dilemma. I'll go with the more ruthless head coach and a nearly 20-year vendetta. "Mercy is for the weak" applies to only a handful of people, including John Kreese (fictional) and Bill Belichick (all-too-real). Oh, and Aaron Weaver (somewhere between fictional and real).
Good luck today.
