Last week's 50/50 lineup would have been good enough to win just about any week -- except that one. Seven QBs threw for 375+ yards. 11 had 3+ TDs. 10 RBs had 25+ PPR fantasy points (compared to eight the previous three weeks combined). And so on. There were simply too many great players, and I didn't have enough elite guys.
This week's DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week has once again gone through several iterations since Tuesday. This final version offers enough hedges to ensure a high floor, with enough high-impact players to offer high-ceiling potential.
QB Philip Rivers ($8,200) -- The future Hall-of-Famer has been my go-to more than any quarterback the past 1+ seasons. His floor is tremendous in an intra-division home matchup against a beatable Raiders D, and the Chargers' defense is just bad enough to keep Rivers throwing well into the second half.
RB Melvin Gordon ($8,700) -- Last week's Rivers/Gordon hedge worked as well as hoped. There aren't enough huge-floor running backs this week to pass over one of the most dependable RB1s around.
RB T.J. Yeldon ($6,500) -- While I'm not expecting top-14 production out of Yeldon, he's a fairly safe, high-usage option at a reasonable price.
WR Antonio Brown ($9,000) -- I don't often spend big on Brown. But this is one of those weeks when he's primed to go off against a burnable Falcons secondary. Predicting a 12/100/2 line.
WR Amari Cooper ($6,500) -- He was in my lineup last week . . . before he wasn't. Big mistake. He's moderately priced with breakout potential. I've received plenty of push-back for my fantasy love of Cooper (he was my 8th ranked fantasy WR this preseason). There's still plenty of time to climb out of his WR3 hole. I'm anticipating another WR1 performance.
WR Tyler Boyd ($6,300) -- I've toyed with starting Any Dalton and/or A.J. Green this week. Instead, Boyd gets the nod for the third time this year. A solid #2 offensive target in a plus matchup.
TE Vance McDonald ($4,700) -- Either I'm missing something, or Fan Duel's missing something. McDonald has a realistic 4/40 floor and a TE1 ceiling. It makes complete sense to roll the dice on such a cheap tight end.
FLEX Jordy Nelson ($5,600) -- This is a hedge in case Cooper goes south. It also reflects my belief that no receiver has greater upside this week at that price (or below) than Nelson. Passing on the cheaper Taywan Taylor and trendy spot-starter Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
DST Panthers ($4,400) -- Worst case, Carolina shows some rust after their bye week. Best case, they lure Eli Manning into three interceptions, including a pick-six.
