Last night played out largely as expected with Demaryius Thomas doing adequately, Emmanuel Sanders finally snapping back before succumbing once again to his nagging ankle injury, C.J. Anderson doing slightly better than adequately, Frank Gore doing less-than-adequate, and Jacoby Brissett being barely adequate. Jack Doyle surprised me a bit with an efficient seven catches on eight targets to lead Indy. I had thought T.Y. Hilton would be utilized more. Same goes for Denver, which largely kept the Colts in check on the field, but it didn't translate into fantasy point. They'll likely finish this week just outside the top 12; I thought they'd be a top 8-10 option. Oh, and congratulations to the one or zero of you who anticipate Brock Osweiler and Cody Latimer leading all fantasy players. This is the NFL, where the unpredictable is the norm.
Around the league, Trevor Siemian is now out for the season. Osweiler's surprisingly strong performance yesterday should earn him a start next week in Washington. That game will play out differently, with Osweiler reverting to his bottom-10 ways.
Adrian Peterson also has been shelved for the year, meaning Kerwynn Williams will now "RB3" his way to the season's finish line. As most of you know, I wasn't on the AP bandwagon this preseason and didn't buy into him after his trade to Arizona. He fared well in two out of six starts and won't have a much of a role--if at all--with David Johnson returning next year. Best case, AP winds up in Pittsburgh if Le'Veon Bell leaves. But it's doubtful he'll be even semi-consistently fantasy relevant again.
Tyrod Taylor will return against Miami. With Buffalo's weekend weather looking good, he'll be a top 16 QB with top 8-10 upside in a game that could put the Bills in the driver seat for a playoff spot.
It will be Michael Crabtree-or-bust this weekend in a plus matchup against a beatable Dallas D. With Amari Cooper expected to sit, this is one of those situations where it's easy to imagine Crabtree--who earned 13 targets last week--being a must-start PPR option.
Leonard Fournette's status is up in the air. If you have bench space, add Chris Ivory and/or T.J. Yeldon ASAP. Jacksonville should roll over Houston, and if Fournette sits, one of these backups should shine.
