DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week and Guest Column

I do four 50/50 Fan Duel costs each week for a buck each. Last week's FF4W DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week scored within the top 15% of all four. This week I'm once again going against the grain on a couple guys (see "Brandin Cooks" last week):

QB Philip Rivers

RBs Ezekiel Elliott and Kareem Hunt

WRs Stefon Diggs, Larry Fitzgerald, Amari Cooper

TE Julius Thomas

K Phil Dawson

DST Cardinals

Through this lineup, as highlighted in this weekend's bargains/busts podcast (https://soundcloud.com/user-780565013/week-4-fantasy-football-preview-bargains-and-busts ), Rivers is a fantastic bounce-back candidate; there's no conceivably way he's underperforming a second consecutive week. At RB I'm anticipating Hunt doing Hunt-like things and Zeke finally breaking through against a terrible Rams run D.

At receiver, Diggs is due to regress, but I like the matchup and like how much Case Keenum targeted him last week. His $7,200 price tag is very affordable given his high floor. Fitzgerald should also dominate targets in Arizona against San Francisco. And with Michael Crabtree expected to sit, Amari Cooper is primed to rebound despite going against Denver. Cooper has been one of fantasy's bigger disappointments thus far, but should net 10+ looks and simply won't continue to play this badly. At tight end, Miami looked awful last week, and a re-tooled offense should incorporate more Julius Thomas.

My kicker and DST are both from Arizona, in that I think the Cards will put up a lot of points and will keep the 49ers well in check.

After writing more than 700 consecutive columns since launching this page in 2012, for the first time I'm splitting duties today. Many of you should be familiar by now with FF4W commenter Joel Verzosa, who offers fantasy insights often dozens of times a day in the comments below. This morning he has some thoughtful thoughts on Week 4 DraftKings DFS:

"We with FF4W all are very busy with our own fantasy football commentaries, family, and jobs, but we wanted to deliver as much as we can. I personally haven’t played DraftKings but participate regularly on Fan Duel, so I thought what a better way to learn the system and make our community happy. This week I'm going to provide you with my preferred line u for you DraftKings fans. This isn’t just a lineup that I will recommend for you all to play, but is the one that I will use myself and truly believe in. So let’s get it started.

QB: Trevor Siemian -- I know that this may not be the most beautiful of plays, but Siemian at home has been a beautiful thing to watch. The fact that he plays a Raiders team that ranks in the top 10 for most passing yards per game. My runner-up for this position is Carson Palmer, and he can easily switched in for this lineup if you’d rather go with Palmer against the 49ers.

RB: Dalvin Cook -- What do I have to say about a guy who is second in the league in rushing attempts? While the Lions' defense has been playing good ball, they aren’t anything but average against the run. Leonard Fournette -- Yep, another rookie RB. Fournette is another volume play, as he has received the NFL’s third most carries. The fact that the Jets have given up the sixth most rushing yards per game also makes Fournette a safe play.

WR: Keenan Allen - Tied for fifth in targets in a PPR system? Yes please. Plus he plays the Eagles, who give up the eighth most passing yards per game? Enough said. Emmanuel Sanders -- See Trevor Siemian, as well as the aforementioned Keenan Allen, who Sanders is tied with for targets. Larry Fitzgerald -- Third in targets against the 49ers, which is 11 days removed from being shredded by Jared Goff. No running game and a better QB in Palmer has the possibility of 3-4 TDs from the passing game.

FLEX: Jordan Matthews -- I know. Hear me out. Who leads Buffalo in receiving yards? You guessed it. Psssst, the answer is given. Matthews, of course, has been at an advantage due to an average of 19 yards per reception. This means that he has been Buffalo’s deep threat, which happens to be Tyrod Taylor’s specialty. What else we know is that Atlanta struggles against the slot and Matthews is lined up in the slot 66% of the time. A regular slow starter, Matthews has been at a further disadvantage due to being traded during training camp. Sometimes you need a glory play, but I like those glory plays that are backed by some evidence. The fact that Matthews is fairly cheap is great too.

TE: Ryan Griffin: Volume. He’s been receiving a ton of looks from Deshaun Watson and plays the Titans, who have given up the seventh most passing yards per game.

DST: Jaguars - What else do we need to say other than they play the Jets and are leading the league in sacks?
