I'm introducing a new feature that, if useful, will turn into a weekly thing: "The DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week." Over the years I've fielded hundreds of "What's the perfect DFS lineup" questions. My answer is always the same: "If it were that easy, I would have retired in my 30's." Or something to that effect.
I've competed in hundreds of DFS competitions and have won two and have finished near the top in only a handful. So offering a "perfect DFS lineup" with well below a 1% chance of hitting--and probably no better than a 1% chance of a top 10 finish--isn't a good use of anyone's time.
But it might be useful to suggest an ideal 50/50 lineup for those looking to double your DFS investment. "Ideal," of course, is dependent on what happens on the field. And so these are no better than educated guesses. But if most of my ideal 50/50 lineups hit, that would offer some additional value to those looking for a DFS edge.
So based on Fan Duel pricing, today's DFS 50/50 Lineup of the Week is:
QB Philip Rivers
RBs Melvin Gordon and Tevin Coleman
WRs Julio Jones, Mike Evans, and Larry Fitzgerald
TE Coby Fleener
K Wil Lutz
DST Seahawks
I've toyed with downgrading Evans for Keenan Allen or Tyreek Hill and replacing Fleener for Jimmy Graham, who I think will have a bounce-back top 5 TE performance. But collectively, the lineup presented (I think) will give you enough uber-high-upside players and high enough floors to do very well. Obviously, nothing is guaranteed. So do your own research and see what you come up with.
To those who didn't catch yesterday's column, my second bargains/busts podcast is out:
https://soundcloud.com/user-780565013/ff4w-2017-09-17
It's a quick listen at four minutes and 44 seconds and includes quick hits on about two-dozen players. I'm still weighing whether to keep doing it, so I want your feedback, whatever it might be.
Good luck today.
