New Fantasy Podcast and Latest NFL News: Kareem Hunt, LeGarrette Blount, Andrew Luck, and Mike Tolbert
If I can carve out a few extra minutes each week, I'm planning to launch a Sunday morning podcast focused on DFS bargains and busts. Tentatively titled "Fantasy Football for Winners' 4:44 Fantasy Fundown," the show will feature a weekly bargain and bust at QB, RB, WR, TE, K, and DST. Running at four minutes and 44 seconds, the quick-hit podcast hopefully will help some of you competing in DraftKings, FanDuel, etc., and the info obviously is transferable to regular leagues. The first episode will kick off this Sunday a few hours before the day's opening kickoffs:

As with the FF4W site, the podcast won't state the obvious. I'd rather hype up a little-rostered TE primed for top 12 production than Delanie Walker in a favorable matchup. And there will be little-to-no boring prattling about me and my mostly normal life, or the more exciting lives of the rich and famous. I'll pack as much fantasy content as I can into this 4:44 so you can enjoy the rest of your day in peace.
Around the league, the most interesting storyline from yesterday was ESPN's Adam Teicher reporting that Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy acknowledged all three Kansas City RBs--not just Kareem Hunt, but also Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller--are "all prepared to play." Now this doesn't mean they'll play the hot hand. It doesn't make West or Spiller draftable in typical leagues. But it's a sign that Hunt doesn't have the bell-cow role sewn up. Instead, as I warned earlier, the hype on Hunt surpasses his value within about 24 hours of Spencer Ware getting sidelined.
It reminded me of Devontae Booker last season, when C.J. Anderson was knocked out for the year. I immediately traded Booker because his value (roughly top 15 RB at that point) matched or exceeded realistic production expectations. In other words, he had almost no shot of outperforming his newly assigned value. Hunt's been in a similar boat. While he's easily the most talented RB in the group, as a rookie he's got an uphill climb to match his current RB-17 ADP.
Eagles coach Doug Pederson said yesterday what readers of this page have known for weeks--that LeGarrette Blount has been one of the most overdrafted RBs in fantasy. Pederson pointed out that each game's lead back would be dictated by the situation and the game plan. While Wendell Smallwood is no lock for weekly fantasy relevance, he remains the biggest bargain in this backfield. Blount is headed toward bust status based on ADP.
Andrew Luck will miss Week 1, reinforcing what has been suspected for days, if not weeks. The Luck-Hilton connection surely will rise again. But for now, it's a painful situation for anyone who invested early/heavily in Hilton. He'll be lucky to produce WR3 numbers in the near future.
Finally, Bills coach Sean McDermott said he plans to use a committee approach behind LeSean McCoy. Mike Tolbert, Joe Banyard, and Taiwan Jones are--and I say this kindly--sub-par backups. None of them are worth drafting, even in fairly deep leagues. If McCoy goes down, Buffalo will sign someone to be the lead back before one of these three ascends to some meaningful position.
