Week 8 DFS and Regular Season Bargains

It’s Bargain Saturday (need to come up with a catchier name; open to suggestions).  Many of you compete in DFS, so most Saturdays are dedicated to you.  Of course, you don’t have to be in daily leagues to appreciate bargains; bye weeks often force us to dig deep for that high-upside WR4 or a TE2 with TD potential.  So everyone enjoy the splendor that is Substandard Saturday (again, need help on the title).

As shared earlier this week, I like some cheap Week 8 QBs like Trevor Siemian ($6,900 FanDuel pricing), Brock Osweiler ($6,500), and Ryan Fitzpatrick ($7,300).  And with Josh McCown ($6,400) now slated to start, we’re in some crazy rare territory: four bye-week-replacement-worthy QBs, all of whom should be available in most leagues.

At RB, Devontae Booker ($5,600) is an easy one.  Barring an injury, he should be a top 6 RB this week.  Duke Johnson ($5,100) is hit-or-miss this season, but hitting at that price while also rolling with Booker would give you enough of a budget to snag elite players six of the other seven slots.  At the bottom of the barrel, Alfred Blue ($4,500) could make some people a lot of money this weekend; it comes down to whether Lamar Miller suits up.

I’m starting Russell Shepard ($4,500) in my regular league and will start him in a DFS entry, too.  While last week’s impressive outing might turn out to be a fluke, he’s good enough to roll the dice on.  Beyond Shepard, though, this isn’t a week when I’d take many chances on cheap WRs; there’s not enough reliable or high-upside talent there.

Zach Ertz is now worth $4,800?  I just dropped him in my regular league, but at that price, sure, take a chance on a guy who might get a couple of red zone looks.  C.J. Fiedorowicz ($4,900) is very affordable given his recent production.  Gary Barnidge ($5,000) is way too cheap with McCown back under center.  Jack Doyle ($4,900) proved me wrong earlier this season and continues to earn buckets of respect.  And Kyle Rudolph ($5,100) is facing an atrocious defense with two starters potentially sidelined—a good combination.
