The Rams lose a home game and are forced to play at 6:30 a.m. their
time, but as of writing this, they’re looking good against the Giants in
London. I understand why the NFL wants
to broaden the league’s appeal internationally—and potentially launch new teams
in Europe. But if the Rams were a Super
Bowl contender vying for home field advantage throughout the playoffs—if this
were the Seahawks, for example—would there have been more push-back?
Plenty of last-minute question heading into today’s normally scheduled
contests, including:
Will Spencer Ware once again lead Kansas City’s backfield? Jamaal Charles experienced knee swelling
Friday, which is not a good thing in general, and which is particularly
unfortunate in a recently surgically repaired knee. Spencer Ware has popped on my Player Valuation
spreadsheet (Season Pass subscribers will know what I’m talking about when they
see it on Tuesday) and is an RB2 with top 5 upside today against the Saints.
In Buffalo World, LeSean McCoy is expected to be on a snap count,
making that backfield (with Mike Gillislee) a risky bet. You could start one and be burned by the
other. Both are RB4s, while Gillislee
has playable upside if McCoy is largely rested.
Meanwhile, Robert Woods is out, making Justin Hunter a shockingly surprising
WR3. (Can something be “shockingly
surprising”? Yes, but only Justin
Hunter.) Charles Clay—one of my
preseason bold predictions—should be a solid TE1 today.
I warned last week that Jordan Reed’s concussions symptoms were more
concerning than the media was acknowledging.
Vernon Davis once again is on the TE1 radar, while WR2/3 Jamison Crowder
will take another step toward fantasy respectability.
Corey Coleman is unowned in more than two-thirds of ESPN leagues. If you’re in a 12+ team league, pick him up. Now.
Terrelle Pryor has been lights out, but now is battling a hamstring
injury, which sometimes lingers. Coleman
is arguably more talented and should at least be Cody Kessler’s co-#1 target
when he returns in the coming weeks.
