Week 6 DFS and Regular League Bargains

Whether you play in daily or standard leagues, it’s nearly impossible to field an elite team.  Most of us need to find bargains every week.  Here are some of the biggest Week 6 bargains, with FanDuel pricing in parentheses.

At QB, Brian Hoyer ($7,000) and Brock Osweiler ($6,900) are terrific streamers and relatively cheap DFS plays.  Each is likely to net 2+ TDs.  I’ve been pushing Hoyer every week since Jay Cutler got hurt—and in fact, lamented this preseason that Houston downgraded at QB by signing Osweiler and letting Hoyer walk.  It was a controversial call at the time, but now it should be evident that Houston—and in particular DeAndre Hopkins—would have been better with Hoyer at the helm.  But all isn’t lost in Texan land: Osweiler will find plenty of room to throw against an Indy D that’s yielded the NFL’s fourth most passing yards per game.

At RB, Duke Johnson ($5,100) has been largely forgotten.  In standard leagues, I don’t blame you.  But in PPR and DFS, he’s a great bounce-back play.  Bobby Rainey ($5,000) is in the same boat: affordable and likely good for 5+ catches.  Last week I pushed Oakland’s DeAndre Washington ($5,400) and Jalen Richard ($5,100) as strong plug-ins, and we can expect the same this week with Latavius Murray sidelined again.  The other Washington (Dwayne) in Detroit is valued at $5,200, making him a fantastic start if his health holds up.

Why is target monster Jarvis Landry valued at $6,900?  Because he’s coming off a terrible game.  That’s how daily leagues work.  Surely you’re starting him every week in most leagues.  But this is a time to pounce in DFS; he won’t be this cheap again all season.  DeSean Jackson ($6,400) is also undervalued.  Jordan Reed is questionable with a concussion, and DJax is one of the best boom-bust WRs in the league.  It adds up to a highly likely good day.  Tyler Lockett ($5,300) appears to be finally healthy; he remains a must-roster in regular leagues and, this week, a superb DFS start.

Two other WRs to hone in on.  Pittsburgh’s Eli Rogers ($4,900) should return this week.  With Markus Wheaton out, Rogers is a guy to grab in regular leagues (I did yesterday) and is a solid low-risk / high-reward play in daily leagues.  Finally, Torrey Smith ($5,300) has been entirely forgotten, and for good reason.  I wrote about him earlier this week—that a change in QB could lead to a change in how the Niners’ WRs are targeted.  I believe this week Smith returns to fantasy respectability.  A poor man’s DJax, he retains value in deep leagues and is cheap enough to roll the dice on in DFS.
