Four things to highlight today:
1)
My latest fantasy podcast with WRAL.com sports
editor Aaron Schoonmaker is out. We
cover a lot in a tight 30-minute format, so (I hope) it’s worth a listen whenever
you’re driving to work, taking a long bathroom break, or staring at the wall in
silence as you shovel Cap’n Crunch into your mouth:
2)
My latest WRAL SportsFan post is out. Every Tuesday and Thursday I share fantasy
thoughts you won’t usually read here.
For example, yesterday focused on the “fantasy law of averages,” in
which great players will almost always rebound, provided they aren’t hampered
by one of the four criteria:
-
Are they hurt?
-
Are they past their prime?
-
Have they been demoted?
-
Has their team’s makeup or game plan
shifted dramatically (e.g. starting QB gets hurt, successful offensive
coordinator leaves, etc.)?
3)
One day away from the start of Week 2, it might
be helpful to run down how I’m approaching my fantasy team after a Week 1
loss. In a Sports Illustrated-commissioned
14-team league of fantasy football writers from around the country, my roster
includes Big Ben, Derek Carr (backup), Todd Gurley, Jeremy Langford, Amari
Cooper, T.Y. Hilton, Tajae Sharpe (#1 flex), Ameer Abdullah (#2 flex), Zach
Ertz, and some bench fodder I hope will blow up.
These past couple of
days I’ve been trying to move Langford and Hilton. As I discuss on the podcast above, Langford owns
a career 3.6 YPC and plays behind a bad offensive line. And I’m concerned with both Indy’s offensive
line (shorter passes are expected to keep Luck from getting hit) and the rising
talents of Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett.
I’ve initiated some positive communications with opponents, but they say
it’s still too early for them to make a move.
In the meantime, I
dropped Rob Kelley and Charles Johnson after the waiver wire period ended this
morning (improving my position for next week) and added free agents Nelson
Agholor (hoping he owns Philly’s #2 receiving role now that Ertz is hurt) and
Dennis Pitta (debated added Brent Celek instead, but I went with upside in
Pitta).
4)
In a few minutes, subscribers of the FF4W Season
Pass will receive 350+ player values. It
features 350+ players' values for free agent acquisition and trading purposes
(re-draft and dynasty) and for the fantasy playoffs (weeks 14-16). While time consuming to assemble and
re-assemble each week, it helps folks with their daily roster management
decisions. A sample is below.
If you want to sign up, subscribe via the big green box on this page. Pay
whatever it’s worth to you (as little as a penny), and you’ll start receiving updated
valuations every week.
