Great debate yesterday on Matt Forte.
Appreciate everyone’s opinions, regardless of opinion.
Looking ahead to Sunday/Monday, let’s look at some DFS bargains, using
Fan Duel pricing. Note that some of
these are deep, deep bargains—not necessarily guys we’d think about starting:
QB Jay Cutler ($6,800) – We’ll see better from Cutler than we did last
week, as Alshon Jeffery and potentially Eddie Royal make significant impacts,
leading the cheap Cutler to a 250+/2+ day.
QB Josh McCown ($6,000) – Possibly the least expensive starting QB of
Week 2, McCown inherits an offense that largely sputtered last weekend under
the care of RGIII. Today will be
different, as Corey Coleman and Gary Barnidge get more involved, and Duke Johnson
re-asserts himself as one of the most effective pass-catching RBs in the AFC.
RB Shane Vereen ($5,100) – Facing a porous Saints defense and coming
off a nine-touch Week 1, Vereen is a near-lock for 8+ DFS points and has a
decent shot at a score—not bad for $5,100.
RB Theo Riddick ($5,900) – in DFS, PPR rules. So Riddick remains one of the best bargains
in daily fantasy leagues. Note that in
standard leagues, I remain in sell-high mode on the complementary Lions running
back.
WR Eddie Royal ($5,300) – See above.
Kevin White isn’t yet ready to be a regular contributor. Royal is Cutler’s de facto #2 option in the
passing game, making the historically boom-bust Royal worth the risk.
WR Chris Hogan ($4,700) – Hogan is listed as questionable for Sunday’s
game. But facing a questionable Miami
secondary, his price is too tempting to pass up if you want to load up on
high-priced players elsewhere.
WR Tyrell Williams ($5,400) – Will Williams inherit more touches with
Keenan Allen out for the year? Or will Dontrelle
Inman? I lean toward Williams, whose
price makes him a terrific boom-bust options.
TE Virgil Green ($4,600) – Facing a terrible Colts D and with Demaryius
Thomas questionable, Green, could be Denver’s second-most targeted receiver. At that price, he’s a nice Hail Mary,
especially after earning five targets last week—and catching four of them.
TE Dennis Pitta ($4,800) – Pitta is now the clear-cut #1 TE in
Baltimore. Will he recapture his former
glory? Facing the Browns, he’s got as
good a shot as any to do it.
TE Brent Celek ($4,800) – Assuming Zach Ertz sits, Celek is a fantastic
DFS play. Expect more targets, more red
zone looks, and more yards than we’ve seen from Celek in a long time.
