PPR Rankings Are Available, and Bold Prediction 39: Zach Ertz

This summer I’ve heard the same question nearly every day: “Do you do PPR rankings”?  I compete in PPR leagues every year, so I know this stuff like the back of my elbow, but simply haven’t found time to put it all down on paper with everything else going on.

But last night and early this morning I found the time.  And this morning all of the Preseason Pass subscribers received it in their e-mails.  It’s got the same features as the standard-scoring rankings: top 300, color-coated tiers, bye weeks, etc. . . .

If you want to receive it too, fill out the big blue subscriber box on this page, and you’ll get it today.

In the meantime, here’s another bold prediction:

(39)  Zach Ertz (TE-10 ADP) will be a top 5 TE.  Very few players have watched their targets, receptions, and yardage increase in successive NFL seasons while their TDs have dropped.  Ertz has a fair amount going against him, including competing for snaps with TE Brent Celek and being on the receiving end of a relatively bad QB situation.  But beyond #1 wideout Jordan Matthews, no receiver—not Nelson Agholor, not Rueben Randle, not Josh Huff—has stepped up.  Even newly acquired Dorial Green-Beckham is a work in progress who might not reach his potential until the end of this decade, if ever.  Among all Philly receivers last season, Ertz was second in snaps, targets, and yards.  This won’t change in 2016.  What will change is his downward scoring trend: two TDs in 2015 was an anomaly.  Expect 900+ yards and 7+ TDs as his red zone targets (and red zone success) improve.  In 12-team leagues, he’s going on average in the eighth round.  Grab him in the mid-to-late sixth and consider yourself lucky.
