Before we get to bold prediction #28, a question for anyone who wants to answer it: Can co-managers win a fantasy title? Is it possible for two people with strong fantasy convictions to compromise their way to dominance? Have any of you been successful co-managing a team?
I’ve long believed that solo management is the best way to dominate. We can make pickup/drop decisions on the fly without waiting to hear back from our partner. We can negotiate trades freely. We can make last-minute lineup changes without incurring a “Why did you do that?” rebuke on Monday morning.
In my limited teaming experience, there’s a dead-weight syndrome to partnering; no two people are equally enthusiastic about the game, equally knowledgeable about fantasy, and/or equally committed to winning. So often one person carries the team and the other merely cheers from the sidelines.
To those who’ve partnered in the past or do so today, what’s been your experience? Are there viable arrangements out there? If so, what’s the secret to making it work?
And now to the next bold prediction:
(28) Mike Evans (WR-12 ADP) will be a top 6 WR. The nearly 23-year-old Evans has 2,257 receiving yards and 15 TDs in what could be a Hall-of-Fame NFL career. This is the season he puts it all together. He and QB Jameis Winston showed a great deal of commitment to improve this offseason, working on routes and watching game tapes together. Evans also lost 10-15 pounds and recently admitted to mental lapses during the 2015 season, when he endured an NFC-high 15 drops. Among last year’s top 49 fantasy wideouts, 47 reeled in more than 50% of their targets. Evans didn’t. We now know the reason, and more importantly, so do Evans and Winston. The third-year wideout will enjoy a 1,400+ yard, 12+ TD season. Pure dominance coming from a second-round draft pick.
