If you're in a dynasty league and have Lamar Miller, congratulations. Barring injury, as long as he leaves Miami for a half-decent offense that knows what they have in the underrated 24-year-old, Miller will be a top 3 fantasy RB in 2016. Bank on it.
In 45 career starts--all with the Dolphins--Lamar Miller has had 20+ carries only twice. Think about that: Miller is the best player Miami has, yet he's relegated to the equivalent of an RBBC role. Earning only $660,000 this year, the soon-to-be free agent surely will bolt Miami this offseason for a team that likely will feed him the ball 300+ times on ground and 50+ in the air. With a 5.1 YPC in each of the past two seasons, it's not far-fetched to say that Miller will reach the 2,000 yards-from-scrimmage mark in 2016.
That is, if he leaves Miami. Which will happen. Because clearly he's not needed.
Speaking of RBs, who's still standing in the NFL?
- Jonathan Stewart might miss Week 15, meaning Cameron Artis-Payne or Fozzy Whitaker might be playable, and at minimum are worth a closer look as that backfield situation shakes out this week.
- LeGarrette Blount is on crutches, which is never a good sign. The first thing you learn in fantasology school is that crutches = bench spot. So James White and/or Brandon Bolden have RB3+ appeal if Blount's condition doesn't improve dramatically. And come to think of it, it might; I wouldn't put it past Bill Belichick to tell an actually healthy LeGarrette, "Here, use these crutches at practice today and wince in pain to fool the media. They'll never suspect you're getting 25 carries on Sunday."
- Thomas Rawls' season-ending injury means we're once again reading about Bryce Brown, who at 24 is too young to be a journeyman, and who's almost too old to finally put it all together. He's been hit by more waives than Key West at high tide (boom!). Seriously though, he's been cut three times this season, so there's little reason to expect a breakout. In a very plus matchup this weekend, barring any new news, DuJuan Harris is worth a fantasy start.
-- Finally, Ronnie Hillman looked decent in the air Sunday, but his 20 yards on 12 carries are a reminder that this is more C.J. Anderson's backfield than Hillman's. Those who heeded the warnings and sold high on Hillman mid-season are laughing right now--unless you're out of the playoffs.
