Week 13 Mea Culpas

It's "Mea Culpa" Tuesday, as I run down some of the biggest mistakes I made in Week 13--the bad advice that keeps me up at night.  Sure, a lot of picks hit on the nose.  But it's a good time to atone for fantasy transgressions.

(1) Where have you gone, LeGarrette Blount?  An RB1 from weeks 3 to 10, he's averaged only 13 touches per game since.  And this downturn has coincided with key losses to Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski.  One would think Blount would have inherited a larger role in the process.  One (i.e. "me") would have been very wrong.

(2) James White is the biggest reason I was wrong.  He finally made good on his potential--something I've doubted ever since Dion Lewis got knocked out for the season.  Bill Belichick's backfield is, as should have been expected, a total mess.  For two straight weeks, I've backed the wrong guy.

(3) Markus Wheaton did it again.  After being largely invisible all season, he had back-to-back startable games, including Sunday's 11-point effort.  I urged many people to bench him this week in favor of more reliable options.  Hats off to those who ignored me.

(4) I wasn't expecting a huge Week 13 from T.Y. Hilton, but 10 points seemed realistic for a great WR in a great matchup, especially on a team dealing with a fading running game.  It was not to be.  Catching three of five targets for 36 yards is the stuff of waiver fodder, not an FF4W endorsement.

(5) Been wrong about Ben Watson in general all year.  The almost 35-year-old is on pace for record numbers.  It doesn't compute.  How can an aging, middling TE on a team with an aging, lost-a-step (or has he?) QB and many, many offensive weapons continue to be a viable TE1?

(6) I put too much faith in Josh Norman this week, anticipating he'd shut down Brandin Cooks.  But few WRs have dominated as Cooks has since midseason, and his remaining schedules keeps him on the WR1 map.

Where else did I err?  Don't be shy.  We all need a fantasy cleanse now and then.
