The news yesterday afternoon about Mark Ingram is obviously huge, especially this late in the season. The fourth highest scoring fantasy RB and 10th highest scoring flex player, Ingram entered the fantasy playoffs in prime position to help folks win the title.
Now the big question is, who will the Saints lean on in the backfield? Before a few weeks ago, Tim Hightower hadn't played an NFL snap in roughly four seasons. He's amassed 24 rushing TDs in 535 carries--a fantastic clip. But I don't see him getting 20 touches a game. It's hard to imagine him earning 15. Only three times in his career has he carried it more than 18 times in a game.
What about C.J. Spiller? One of the trendiest RB draft picks this summer, few fantasy players have been so disappointing. Last week's line: one catch for zero yards. That said, I can't envision New Orleans keeping Spiller on the sidelines. They're still (strangely) in the playoff hunt. They'll want to see what Spiller--a better playmaker than Hightower--can give them.
I believe it'll take one week--this week--for this to all shake out. If you have the luxury of possessing bench space to add both guys, I'd do it. One of them should be an RB2/3 for the stretch run.
As for tonight's game, I hinted at it earlier this week: While Arizona is an 8.5-point favorite, this game could get ugly quickly. Minnesota is missing, I believe, four key defensive starters. Their passing attack is 30th in the league. If Arizona can neutralize Adrian Peterson (surely not easy, but also quite possible), Teddy Bridgewater & company will have trouble moving the chains.
Expect some brilliant numbers from Carson Palmer and David Johnson. Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown, and Michael Floyd are all startable. And as I wrote yesterday, Kerwynn Williams is a guy I'd start if I didn't have a sure-fire 7+ point option at flex.
If you're in the fantasy playoffs, good luck. If you're trying to strike it rich in a daily league, good luc$.
