Week 9 Waiver Thoughts

If you missed out on DeAngelo Williams in this week's waiver frenzy, there's always next week.  Expectations couldn't be higher for the 32 1/2-year-old.  But facing a Raiders unit that's yielding the second fewest rushing yards per game, Williams can't be expected to match his 4.9 YPC season mark.  A composite of 127 experts compiled by Fantasy Pros selected him as the 10th ranked Week 9 RB.  If he stumbles this weekend--and I believe he won't net double-digit points--then there will still be time to acquire him from a disappointed manager on Monday.

I've written more than enough on Darren McFadden.  If you're starting the 13th ranked Week 9 RB, I hope he helps you win.  But from my perspective, he needs to be traded.  The sooner the better.  Injury risks aside, his remaining schedule (particularly fantasy playoff games against the Jets and Bills) makes him a greater liability than many top 25 RBs.  If you trade him now, you'll improve your team for the stretch run.  If you don't, there's a good chance you'll be dropping him by Week 11.

I have Week 9's 19th ranked RB Jeremy Langford in my 20-team league.  But it doesn't mean I'll start him.  The hype is huge for the untested rookie, especially when facing one of the league's worst defenses.  But I worry about Langford's scoring potential.  He's no Matt Forte (yet), and Chicago's scored the fifth fewest points in the NFL.  Only two of his 29 touches have been receptions, and he had an ugly drop last week.  17 carries for 65 yards is realistic, and that would dash a lot of fantasy hopes in the process.  Look elsewhere for a high-upside RB3/flex.
