Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I'm approaching "Family Time" and will be offline for most of the day--except the usual bathroom breaks and pretending to go outside to smoke (I don't smoke, but don't tell my wife).
Here are some quick thoughts as we gear up for one of the greatest days ever invented by humans:
(1) While the Lions are 2.5 point favorites vs. the Eagles, I think the final score will be somewhere around 27 to 10. The Lions' D is a must-start fantasy DST. Sounds a little nuts, given that this is a bottom-10 fantasy unit. But I believe Detroit will step up in this marquee game against a reeling Eagles team.
(2) Last week Ameer Abdullah earned the most touches he's received since Week 6. I expect him to take another step forward this week, collecting 60+ total yards with a possible score. He's a desperation start, but a must-hold for RB-needy managers.
(3) I honestly don't know what to make of the Cowboys-Panthers game. Completely stumped. Darren McFadden could go off or get wrapped up.
(4) Same for Jonathan Stewart.
(5) Devin Funchess remains my favorite deep-dive start (not so deep-dive anymore given his recent production).
(6) Expect Jason Witten to get more love this week as a safety valve for Tony Romo. He'll be back on the TE1 radar where he belongs.
(7) Urged folks to start Darren Sproles last week. Once again he's usable in PPR leagues and is a nice desperate play in standard ones.
(8) The Packers got back on track last week after three straight losses, winning a tough road game against a very good Vikings D. Expect smooth sailing today against the Bears: 34-14 sounds about right, particularly if Alshon Jeffery sits. Aaron Rodgers is a good for 3+ TDs, but you already knew that.
(9) Those who haven't given up on Eddie Lacy (I hope that includes all of you) will be rewarded today as he further cements his return as both Green Bay's starting RB and as a certifiable RB1. 100+ yards and a score. He's a must-start guy despite being ranked lower than Javorius Allen by Fantasy Pros' composite of 100+ experts (what are they thinking?).
(10) The Bears' backfield is a crap shoot. You could start Matt Forte, and Jeremy Langford will get most of the touches. Or vice versa. It's a situation to avoid if you have RB1s and 2s to start.
Good eating, good viewing, good luck.
