A quick look around the league:
- I highlighted WR Devin Funchess earlier this week as a nice under-the-radar WR down the stretch. As he develops a stronger rapport with Cam Newton, the sky's the limit. This week expect 8+ points (WR3/flex) for the consensus 58th ranked WR (what are these people thinking?). Rostered in barely 10% of ESPN leagues, Funchess will be a more sought-after WR after today.
- Darren McFadden is facing the #4 run defense (based on yards per carry). Ranked 7th in a consensus of nearly 100 experts, he won't post RB1 numbers this week, and isn't a great bet to finish among the top 20.
- Right before my 20-team league's trade deadline this week, I traded Jeremy Langford and Tony Romo for Ben Roethlisberger. It might seem a bit ridiculous to give up last week's #4 fantasy RB for an oft-injured QB. But I thought it was a no-brainer: Chicago's next two games are against St. Louis and Denver--among two of the NFL's best run D's. And with Matt Forte likely to return in the next week or two, Langford's days as a startable RB are numbered. This week he's startable only in PPR leagues.
-- Marshawn Lynch will be a game-time decision. Even with a touch matchup against the Cardinals, handcuff Thomas Rawls is a must-add--if only to block an opponent from grabbing him first.
-- Charcandrick West has two straight games with 100+ total yards and a score. That will end today. The 19th ranked Week 10 RB will be good for about 50-60 yards in a game where Kansas City will score in single digits.
-- 31st ranked RB Shane Vereen vs. his former team? Yes please. A great PPR play and a solid WR3/flex option in standard leagues.
-- 32nd ranked "backup" RB Eddie Lacy vs. the fifth worst run D? Yes please, as long as he doesn't have a pre-game injury setback. James Starks is keeping the starting job warm for when/if Lacy returns to form. Most people have given up on Lacy. I haven't, believing his upside for the fantasy playoffs is too high to simply cast him aside.
