Yesterday I wrote that if the Bengals scored fewer than four touchdowns and 31 points, I'd be shocked. Four touchdowns and 31 points later, it's clear that this is a team with more good/great weapons than any NFL team, save maybe the Patriots.
But that poses a problem in the fantasy world. Across my three leagues, I have Jeremy Hill, Tyler Eifert, A.J. Green, and Marvin Jones. So I dominated in one of my leagues (Eifert), but fell flat in my other two. Most weeks this season at least three of these players have had good games. So we can't overreact, but it's a good reminder that sometimes an otherwise elite player will take a backseat based on matchups and game flow.
With fantasy trade deadlines approaching, here's an approach I like to use, but no more than once per year with an opponent:
Offer a pretty fair trade, where you might have a slight advantage. Then, a few minutes later, offer a slightly fairer trade. You still have a small advantage with the second one, but it's like an optical illusion: compared to the first offer, it looks noticeably fairer. As with all things, it doesn't always work. But it's been known to on occasion, and that's good enough for me.
