It's not often a 1-4 team beats a 5-0 team. But give credit to New Orleans' pedestrian defense for containing the league's second highest scoring team, and to 34-year-old TE Ben Watson, whose 10 catches and 127 yards came out of nowhere. To put things in perspective, last season Watson amassed 136 yards . . . total. It was the most yardage he's gained in his 153-game career, and marked only the second time he's caught 10 balls.
So if you're one of the few people who has Watson, now would be a good time to trade him (good luck with that) or drop him; surely there are better TEs out there going forward. Watson's track record and 2015 usage suggests that he's the sixth or seventh option on offense--not someone you want to gamble on ever again.
And hats off to those who drafted Devonta Freeman. He's on pace to do what only three RBs in history have done: collect 27+ touchdowns. I join most/all of the fantasy world in speechlessness. Tevin Coleman's fumble last night--after putting together some really nice runs--definitely strengthened Freeman's hold on the starting job.
And after 12-15 offers, I finally unloaded the injured Justin Forsett, who I strongly believe will fall into a timeshare at some point. I received LeGarrette Blount in return--oddly, from a 5-0 team. Yes, Blount's already in a timeshare, but his scoring potential, at a minimum, matches Forsett's. And while New England will be playing from ahead most weeks--a good indicator of RB usage--the 1-4 Ravens will be playing from behind, and at a certain point might want to see what they have in rookie Javorius Allen. It's a calculated risk intended not to dramatically improve my team, but to mitigate risk.
