Tonight has one of the oddest Thursday games of the season. Andrew Luck--a consensus top 2 QB in August--is battling a shoulder injury; he's expected to play, but this could have a ripple effect on every Colt--not just this week, but for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Arian Foster should play a much larger role than he did last week in his return from a groin injury; but will he return to RB1 status? I think the odds are against it. I'm starting him in both leagues where I drafted him, but am not expecting more than 11 points, standard scoring.
Down the line, I picked up WR Keith Mumphery in my 20-team league yesterday and plan to start him with Cecil Shorts and Nate Washington out; he'll start opposite DeAndre Hopkins, making him an RB4/5 streamer. But the bigger upside guy long term is WR Jaelen Strong, who I drafted in my 20-team league but later dropped to pick up Ty Montgomery. An opponent has since added Strong--a great move, as the rookie wideout is far more likely than Mumphery to be a fantasy commodity later this season.
Also, I've been fielding questions about Ahmad Bradshaw. He should be owned in most 16+ team leagues, and others should keep an eye on the situation. He was terrific for the first half of last season, compiling six double-digit performances in seven games before going down with a season-ending injury. Whatever you think of Frank Gore, he's shown his age as expected, with only one good game in four weeks. Bradshaw has legit RB4+ potential if he splits time with Gore, and if Andrew Luck is healthy.
Finally, last week I started urging folks to drop Andre Johnson, who's plummeting on the depth chart. With TE Dwayne Allen healthy, Johnson is probably the sixth option in the passing game. He's still owned in 65% of ESPN leagues. If his name were Rob Robertson, he'd be owned in 2%.
