Pre-Week 6 Insights

Heading into Week 6, I'm desperately trying to trade Justin Forsett.  His average RB ranking this week among Fantasy Pros' 76 experts is 10th.  That's right, 10th.  Never mind that he's hurt and is questionable to play.  Forget that he's 30 years old.  Ignore those who claim he'll repeat last season's RB1 campaign.

I'm trying to get rid of him because he's dangerously close to falling into a timeshare.  It's not apparent yet, but it's very likely to happen, and I want to get value for him while I can.

He fell into my lap three weeks ago in my 20-team league, when I traded Matt Forte and Kendall Wright in return for A.J. Green and Forsett, along with Kirk Cousins (Tony Romo had just gotten hurt, and there were no starting QBs on waivers).  At the time, Forsett was a nice buy-low guy.  Now after racking up 150+ total yards in each of the last two games, I'm trying to unload him before it's too late.

Javorius "Buck" Allen might not be the answer, but if Forsett can't play in Week 6, Allen has a plus matchup to show what he can do.  If he performs, I see no reason why Baltimore would send him back to the bench when Forsett returns.  Then there's the athletically gifted and just-signed Raheem Mostert--an incredibly athletic running back who could get some touches this week if Forsett sits.

It's speculative, but it's based in real concern: When an aging starting running back misses time and a younger RB replacement proves himself, the backfield often becomes muddled.

Other thoughts:

(1) If T.J. Yeldon can't go for Jacksonville and Denard Robinson is healthy (he should be), then Robinson, the 61st ranked Week 6 RB, is a terrific flex streamer in a nice matchup.

(2) If Lamar Miller's somehow available in your league (and he is in 8% of ESPN leagues), pick him up.  Or trade pennies on the dollar for him.  So much talent, and so few touches.  I believe that will change with a new coaching staff and, in all likelihood, a new philosophy: Capitalize on the team's strengths.  That means Miller and Jarvis Landry should be more involved going forward, and Miller has a great shot to return to RB2+ status.

(3) Matthew Stafford's last three games have come against the Broncos, Seahawks, and Cardinals.  Let's cut this week's 21st ranked QB some fantasy slack.  Sure, he's been awful.  But his schedule is about to get a lot easier, and the kick in the butt he received via his benching should only help.  He's a terrific cheap daily play and a must-start in 2-QB leagues as a likely top 14 QB in Week 6.

(4) Finally, the Bengals were my 10th ranked DST this preseason, and Sunday's game in Buffalo is a great chance for them to prove why.  If Tyrod Taylor and Sammy Watkins sit, it's hard to conceive of Buffalo putting up more than 13 points, and the turnover-prone E.J. Manuel will do the rest.
