Week 1 Recap:
Hope most of you won this week. Really, hope *all* of you won, but that's kinda impossible, so let's settle for *most*.
I was completely wrong about Carlos Hyde (so far). He was Week 1's top overall standard league fantasy scorer. I didn't/don't trust the offensive line and believe that for every week Hyde goes off, Kaep, Torrey Smith, Boldin, and yes, Vernon Davis, will have great week. But I flat-out missed this call.
Similarly, as some of you pointed out, DeMarco Murray was due for several two-TD performances this season. I disagreed. Well, he got his first two last night. That said, he racked up only 20 total yards, including nine on eight carries. He was facing one of the league's worst defenses. It's an inauspicious start despite the scores.
I've also poo-poo'd Percy Harvin a number of times since last preseason. He and fluke Travis Benjamin were the surprise WRs in Week 1. But don't go rushing to grab Harvin: His production came at the expense of virtually every other Bill. Some weeks it'll be Sammy Watkins. Others, LeSean McCoy. Charles Clay and Robert Woods will have their days (or more likely, one day each). The point here is not to overreact.
On defense, the Chefs chewed up the Texans on the road. Completely didn't see this coming. Was uber-high on Houston last preseason and remained so this preseason. They'll rebound. But it was a bad call on my part.
And Vernon Davis: Obviously, I expected more. He led the Niners in receiving yards, which is a good sign. But he has a ways to go to earn people's trust. He still has mine, though I clearly over-anticipated his Week 1 production.
Bishop Sankey: Wow. I ignored him all preseason, giving him up for irrelevant. Can't imagine he'll be remotely this good all season. But this was an oversight on my part.
On the plus side, hit all six of my bargain Daily Fantasy Sports picks: Andy Dalton, Ameer Abdullah, Tyler Eifert, Brandon McManus, and the Jets D were all at or near the top of the Week 1 positional rankings. And Jordan Matthews finished tied for 13th among WRs.

Of the three bargain TEs I've been pushing on everyone since June, two went bonkers: Tyler Eifert and Austin Sefarian-Jenkins. If you did as I suggested and hold off 'til the late rounds for a TE, there's a 67% chance you got a steal. And if Vernon rebounds (which I expect he will), then you're set at TE--unless you want to sell high for an upgrade elsewhere.
Keenan Allen stepped up big-time. He was my 13th ranked WR heading into the season--ahead of Randall Cobb and Mike Evans. Seemed like an odd placement at the time to many people, but in Week 1 he showed why he deserves to be in the WR1 conversation.
Warned a lot of folks on this blog this summer about the declining abilities/schemes surrounding Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. Once perennial elite QBs, they'll be lucky to crack the top 10 this season. I ignored them in every mock and real draft. This is why.
Finally, a lot of people ignored Danny Woodhead this preseason. I was very high on him, ranking him 24th among RBs and 61st overall, ahead of "better" RBs like Joseph Randle, Carlos Hyde, and Alfred Morris. His two-TD performance isn't likely to be replicated this season, but it shows how important he is to this offense, and how anyone who drafted him now has a valuable chip to cash in during trade negotiations.
