There's a lot happening as NFL teams get down to 53 players. Here are the latest top 250 rankings and some highlights:

1. The Packers’ signing of WR James Jones impacts three Green Bay receivers: Jones, Ty Montgomery, and Jeff Janis. Jones boots WR Taylor Gabriel (formerly my 91st ranked WR) from the top 250 board, landing comfortably inside the top 70 WRs. Why not higher? Well, the eight-year veteran has one notable season (2012: 14 TDs) under his belt to go along with several WR5/6 seasons and several worse seasons. If everything comes together perfectly, he could earn 800 yards and six scores. But Montgomery and Janis still have streaming potential, especially later this season. Don’t be surprised if one of them eventually usurps Jones as Green Bay’s #3 receiver.
2. Don’t overreact to RB Christine Michael’s signing in Dallas. It’s a bizarre backfield situation. Joseph Randle remains the “lead” back, by McFadden (until he gets hurt), Michael, and Dunbar could get 5-8 touches per game. Michael enters my top 250 board as the 70th ranked RB.
3. RB David Cobb falls near the bottom of the top 250 while Terrance West (traded to Tennessee) inches up a few spots. It’s a situation to avoid in fantasy.
4. I’ve been hyping RB Josh Robinson for a while, tagging him as a top 50 RB when most haven’t ranked him in the top 100. With RB Daniel Herron placed on injured reserve, Robinson moves up another 13 total spots (and three RB spots) on my draft board. He’s a must-own in most 14-team leagues as Frank Gore’s primary backup.
