Preseason Fantasy Updates

With the news that Baltimore RB Lorenzo Taliaferro will be out a few weeks with an MCL sprain, it's time to reconsider his place on the team.  For nonstarters, the NFL preseason is all about "Show me what you can do."  Taliaferro has rushed 16 times for 44 yards (2.75 YPC), while rookie Buck Allen has 54 yards on 17 carries (3.17).

While neither mark inspires confidence, the fact is, only one of these guys is currently practicing, and only one will be available for the final two preseason games.  That gives Allen the edge heading into the regular season.  I've expressed doubts about Justin Forsett carrying anything close to a full load, so his backup has good upside.  It means Allen is a name to watch these next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, WR Markus Wheaton keeps gaining steam.  He's on the verge of becoming a must-own speculative add in 3-WR/1-Flex leagues.  His upside in that offense is tremendous, given that he should end up playing on most downs (compared to Martavis Bryant) and reportedly has developed terrific chemistry with Ben Roethlisberger.  His stock is rising.  Grab him before he's too expensive (in other words, before someone else catches on).
