There were plenty of fascinating overlapping fantasy storylines in Week 12:
(1a) When was the last time a guy (Jonas Gray) scored 4 TDs and got benched the following week?
(1b) LeGarrette Blount is the Patriots' new big back unless he's busted again with marijuana or sleeps in too late (see 1a).
(2a) With 7 targets compared to Mike Wallace's 4, Jarvis Landry might be the Dolphins' #1 WR during the fantasy playoffs.
(2b) Ryan Tannehill had his 3rd best performance in 3 NFL seasons--on the road against a solid Broncos D.
(3a) No one should ask whether to start Odell Beckham Jr. His upside and consistency are too great to bench.
(3b) Eli Manning now has at least 15 fantasy points in 7 out of 11 games; he had only 2 all of last season.
On the prognostication front, I hit 53% of my "bold" Week 12 predictions. Missed badly on guys like Justin Forsett, Michael Floyd, and Terrance Williams. Brian Hoyer threw for over 300 yards and had several red zone throws. He'd thrown more than 2 interceptions in only one other NFL game. It was just one of those days.
On the correct side, Marshawn Lynch and Denard Robinson were busts, while lesser RBs Charles Sims and Joique Bell were irrelevant. Meanwhile, Jarvis Landry rewarded risk takers by delivering top 6 WR fantasy numbers.
As always, I'm not gonna play it safe. If you ask me whether to start Eddie Lacy or C.J. Anderson, many weeks it'll be a toss-up. But if you're asking which if your 4 RBs will be a surprising bust or breakout candidate, that can mean the difference between 5 points and 20 points out of that slot.
Later today we'll look ahead to the Thanksgiving games. . . .
