Heading into Sunday's games, here are some thoughts on players at each position:
(1) QB Matt Ryan was expected (from my perspective) to have a huge season, and didn't disappoint the first few weeks. But lately he's looked way too human, in part because of offensive line troubles. I'm still extraordinarily high on Ryan as an every week starter; you don't want to bench him today when he could go off for 25+ fantasy points.
(2) Someone on Twitter asked me yesterday which player to start at flex among Storm Johnson, Steven Jackson, Zac Stacy, and Mark Ingram. I'm not high on any of these guys this week, and would be shocked if any scored more than 6 points. So instead I offered up RB Roy Helu, who admittedly would be a desperation play, but who has more upside than the other four guys. 40 total yards and a score are doable for Helu today.
(3) WR Keenan Allen is nowhere near as bad as his stats suggest. I can almost guarantee he'll finish the year with 1,000+ yards and 7+ scores, making him a top 15 fantasy WR the rest of the way. Bench him at your peril.
(4) TE Brandon Pettigrew is an extremely risky start today. But with Joseph Fauria out and Eric Ebron doubtful, I foresee a few hookups between Matt Stafford and his longtime tight end. As with Helu, 40 yards and a TD are doable, making Pettigrew a worthwhile desperation play.
Good luck in Week 7.
