Under-the-Radar RBs to Target

Are you hurting at RB? Did you adopt a "can't-miss" RB-RB-RB draft strategy, grabbing Adrian Peterson with your 4th overall pick, followed by Andre Ellington and Doug Martin in the 2nd and 3rd rounds? Are you on the verge of giving up?

Harness those useless feelings of inadequacy and convert them into something more productive, like improving your team. Quitting is for quitters. Winning is for winners. Here are three under-the-radar, potentially high-upside RBs who are likely available in your league.

(1) Alfred Blue

Blue is available in 99.6% of ESPN fantasy leagues. He's one Arian Foster hamstring injury away from, at worst, serving in an RBBC role with Jonathan Grimes, garnering at least 12 touches per game. In Week 2 he had eight more carries than Grimes, meaning he could be in line for the bulk of work if Foster goes down. Blue might not be the next Knile Davis, but on a great defensive team that should be ahead more often than behind, He could be counted on as a consistent chain-moving, clock-moving RB. Foster's injury history should motivate you enough to take a chance on Blue.

(2) Jerick McKinnon

McKinnon is also available in 99.6% of ESPN fantasy leagues. With Adrian Peterson sidelined indefinitely, McKinnon played on one-third of Minnesota's offensive snaps last weekend. Playing on the other two-thirds was Matt Asiata, a 27-year-old averaging 3.6 yards per carry for his brief career. The writing is on the wall: as long as AP is out, Minnesota will give McKinnon every opportunity to take over the starting job. Grab him before he claims the role.

(3) Robert Turbin

Turbin is available in 93.1% of ESPN fantasy leagues. Christine Michael's
hamstring problems have enabled Turbin to claim the backup role behind Marshawn Lynch. But after averaging 300 carries per year over the past three seasons, despite stlll appearing dominant when healthy (see Week 1), "Beast Mode" is a serious injury risk. On a high-powered offensive and defensive team like Seattle, if Turbin is handed the reins even for a couple of weeks, he could be a 15-20 point threat every game.

If you're still clinging to guys like Ben Tate, Toby Gerhart, Maurice Jones-Drew, etc., take the leap and add a higher-upside RB who's one stroke of luck away from fantasy relevance . . . and possibly fantasy dominance.
