The Case for Mohammed Sanu

I haven't written on WR Mohamed Sanu, so I feel the need to before he racks up 70+ yards and a score this Sunday.

Sanu is starting opposite the inimitable A.J. Green due to #2 WR Marvin Jones' broken foot. Sanu is not a new face on the scene: he was a highly touted rookie two years ago, but never quite put it all together.

That said, he has 6 TDs on 63 career receptions. He's also had a terrific camp, helping to propel him to the #2 spot temporarily vacated by Jones. In a word, Sanu is a talented receiver who's getting a second chance to make a big impression. He has three games to prove that he deserves more playing time.

I like taking chances on guys whose future playing time is not guaranteed. It tends to bring out the best and worst in players, and I like the odds of starting a boom-or-bust WR in my flex spot.

Of course, I might be wrong. Sanu is not on ESPN's list of the top 56 WRs in Week 1. CBS Sports' two experts have him at #'s 45 and 47. Yahoo? #54. So there's not a lot of trust out there in Sanu. I think he'll finish among the top 30, making him a must start in all 10+ team leagues with at least 2 WR slots and a flex.
