First Sports Illustrated Column: RBs to Sell High

Sports Illustrated ran my piece this morning on which starting RBs are not long for this fantasy world:

One name (Gerhart) should be familiar to most of you: I've been screaming from the hilltops since August to avoid the Jags' prized tailback. The original draft (written more than a week ago) also included Ben Tate and Maurice Jones-Drew. But after they got hurt, the predictions were fairly moot. So I opted for Shonn Greene and Steven Jackson.

Hadn't written anything on Greene this year. Was tempted to pick him up last week heading into the Cowboys game. But held back because, after researching his numbers, skills, and utilization, I believed his scoring opportunities would be (and still are) few and far between.

I may have mentioned Jackson earlier in the context of Devonta Freeman, who should take over the starting gig at some point. Of course, this isn't an easy prediction to make, as Jackson has looked good in two contests. But trends are often predictors of breaks in trends--meaning what happens one week is not always a precursor to what will happen this week.

On another, much more important note, my wife's nine months pregnant and is experiencing intermittent contractions. So this might be my last post 'til next week (if it's a false alarm, I might squeeze in one or two more). That means if you have questions and I don't answer them, it's because life always trumps fantasy.
