Top 10 Unconventional Fantasy Predictions:
#6 . . .
Jordan Reed will be a top 4 fantasy TE this season. His current TE ADP is frighteningly bad--10th at Yahoo, 10th at ESPN, and 9th at NFL.com. "Experts" like the good people at Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS Sports rank him as the 9th, 10th, and 11th best fantasy TE, respectively. How strange, and yet another reason why self-respecting fantasy competitors should not listen to these sites.
The only knock on Reed is that his 2013 season ended with a concussion. But is that enough to knock him down to being barely draftable in 10-team leagues? Ridiculous.
In 9 games last year, Reed racked up 499 yards and 3 TDs. Projected over a full season, that would come to 887 yards and 5 TDs. Those would have been incredible rookie TE numbers.
This year Washington's defense should be as bad as ever, while the passing game should improve with a "healthy" RGIII throwing more passes from the pocket and doing less running. Reed is the #3 passing option, and not by as much as one would think. Preseason reports consistently highlight Reed's playmaking ability. He's a potential fantasy stud whose breakout rookie season wascut short. The fact is, he's only getting better.
The "experts"? They look at last year's sub-500 receiving yards and paltry TD total and figure, "Yeah, that's about right." No, Reed is a good bet for 950+ yards and 7+ TDs, making him an elite fantasy TE option.
Go beyond the stats. That's what separates fantasy rock stars from the chumps who finish behind them.
