Top 10 Unconventional Fantasy Predictions FLASHBACK:
#4 . . .
Of my 10 outlandish predictions last preseason, one was completely wrong. And I mean "completely." No excuses. No parsing words. Peyton Manning's epic year was far beyond anything I had expected.
My reasoning seemed sound at the time, at least to me. Peyton had looked fairly bad in the final four games of 2012. He was 37 years old--an age when no one expects you to be the best QB in the NFL, no matter what your pedigree. And he was also only a year removed from a career-threatening injury that some believed was affecting his performance.
I packaged this thinking together in a bold prediction that Peyton would not be a top 5 fantasy QB. Several readers pounced, telling me I was flat-out wrong. They were 100% right. Peyton's production was historic by all measures. Anyone who drafted him was in the driver's seat for a playoff berth, and with smart team management, had a great shot at the title.
This is one of many humbling reminders that I'm not always right--that sometimes I'm not just wrong, but painfully wrong.
