Bold Prediction Flashback: Antonio Brown

Top 10 Unconventional Fantasy Predictions FLASHBACK:
#8 . . .

Last preseason, ESPN ranked Antonio Brown as the 23rd best WR. Yahoo? #21. Same goes for pretty much every well known fantasy site.

It's what I call "lazy rankings." Everyone grouped Brown at around the same spot, ignoring the warning signs that he was not just a breakout candidate, but was actually, quite simply, an elite talent.

I predicted he'd finish among the top 10 WRs with 1,200-1,300 yards and 8-10 TDs. His 1,499 receiving yards and 8 TDs placed him 6th among WRs. Not bad for what the "experts" believed was a middling talent.

And as always, I put my money where my mouth was, drafting Brown in both of my leagues--in the 6th round of a snake draft and for $2 in an auction draft. I won one league and lost in the finals in the other. Needless to say, Brown had a sizable impact.

Yet another reason why we shouldn't listen to "experts" just because they're well known. Popularity doesn't guarantee accuracy, and in fact, it can hinder accuracy when people stop doing the due diligence that made them great in the first place.

I spend hundreds of hours each preseason to bring you the most unlikely predictions you'll find anywhere. And as with Antonio Brown, most of the time these predictions are right.
