Top 10 Fantasy Draft Tips: #7 . . . In-Draft Trades

Top 10 Kick-ass Fantasy Football Draft Tips:

#7 . . .

Here's a tip for snake-draft folks that ensures you'll get more than you give.

It's the start of the 5th round, and your buddy Steve is on the clock.  He's pouring through his cheat sheets, trying to figure out which guy to take.  Because you're the most observant person in the room, you notice before anyone else that he can't make up his mind.

That's when you strike.

Offer to swap 5th and 6th rounders.  Make the case:

"Steve, I've got the 4th pick of this round.  You'll still get a guy you want if you wait 3 turns.  Plus, you'll move up 3 spots in the 6th round, guaranteeing a better player later.  It's a win-win."

I've used this on the Steves of the world several times.  In 2006, I applied this same scenario (swapping 5th and 6th rounders) to move up 3 spots in the 5th round to start a run on DSTs by grabbing the Bears.  The Bears DST finished that season with the 6th most fantasy points--not among DSTs, but OVERALL.  And that helped catapult me to the title.

Capitalize on opponents' indecisiveness.  Improve your roster.  Kick ass.
