Bold Prediction: Kyle Rudolph

Top 10 Unconventional Fantasy Predictions:

#6 . . .

Kyle Rudolph will not be a top 10 fantasy TE this season.  Many experts believe he will build on last year's breakout performance.  But I caution people not to overvalue TD projections.  Yes, Rudolph should get plenty of targets.  But expecting 1 TD for every 6 receptions is unrealistic for anyone not named Rob Gronkowski.

And keep in mind that Rudolph's 493 receiving yards placed him 25th among TEs--behind fantasy irrelevant performers like Benjamin Watson, Tony Scheffler, and Lance Kendricks.  He has yet to prove that he can be an every-down threat.

In my recent 14-team draft, someone took him with the first pick in the 7th round.  The "promise" of many more TDs was too tempting.

Don't be swept away by such false promises.  Wait until the final rounds and draft one of many TE sleepers in this year's draft, and use your "Rudolph" pick on a #3 RB or #3 WR with a higher upside.
